SL-3 (Seed and Labor) Amendment
  1. $4.00 if typed, $8.00 if not typed
  2. May be used to amend SL-1 filing in the following ways:
    1. Extension (if crop not harvested after 10 months)
    2. Release (no fee)
    3. Amend debtor, secured party, and collateral information
    4. Assignment
  3. Each claimant on SL-1 must sign
What information is required for a SL-1 filing?
  1. A mark in either the “Seed” or “Farm Labor” box to indicate what type of lien is being filed.
  2. The name and address of each debtor must be provided.
  3. The name and address of each claimant must be provided.
  4. The dollar amount of the claim.
  5. The crop code, crop name and county code where the crop is to be grown.
  6. There must be a signature for every claimant listed.
What will cause my SL-1 filing to be rejected?
  1. Failure to indicate which type of lien is being filed.
  2. Failure to include a full name and address for each producer.
  3. Failure to include a full name and address for each claimant.
  4. Failure to include the dollar amount of the claim.
  5. Failure to indicate the crop code and county code.
  6. Failure to provide a signature for each claimant.
  7. Failure to include an appropriate filing fee.

If a filing is rejected, a letter will accompany the rejected form to act as a guide in making the necessary corrections.

What information is required for a SL-3 filing?
  1. One of the following boxes must be checked:
    1. Extension of seed lien or farm labor lien - An extension of seed lien may be filed only for crops which have not been harvested within 10 months after the SL-1 was filed. Enter the crops to which the extension applies in the indicated space. A labor lien may be extended for a period of six months. An extension of labor lien may be filed 60 days prior to the lapse of the original filing.
    2. Release of seed lien or farm labor lien – termination of the original SL-1 filing.
    3. Amendment – change of producer, claimant or collateral information
    4. Assignment – A ssigning the lien to another or an additional claimant.
  2. The filing number of the SL-1 to which the SL-3 relates
  3. The date of filing of the SL-1
  4. The name of the first producer on the SL-1
  5. Information appropriate to the type of amendment being filed
  6. There must be a signature for every claimant listed on the SL-1.
What will cause my SL-3 filing to be rejected?
  1. Failure to provide original SL-1 filing number.
  2. Failure to include the date of filing of the SL-1.
  3. Failure to include the name of the first producer on the SL-1.
  4. Failure to identify the purpose of the filing (checking the appropriate box).
  5. Failure to provide a signature for each claimant.
  6. Failure to include an appropriate filing fee.

    If a filing is rejected, a letter will accompany the rejected form to act as a guide in making the necessary corrections.
