NOTARY STAMPS – Notary stamps are not changing until October 1, 2018.

The office of the Secretary of State would like to clarify a point of confusion pertaining to Notaries Public. In 2017 legislation was passed to include a notary public's commmission number on their official seal (stamp). We do not believe that lawmakers intended to force existing notaries to reorder stamping devices, rather that they would continue using their existing stamp until their current commission expires.

The Secretary of State's office has adopted the following policy to bridge the time between the October 1, 2018 implementation of this statute and the time at which we will be able to propose corrective legislation in the 2019 Legislative Session.
